LSU Football Players Jailed for Alleged Hazing Incident, Volleyball Match Against Maryland Postponed

LSU Responds to Hazing Allegations

Louisiana State University (LSU) has suspended all football activities after several players were arrested and charged with hazing.

The incident, which allegedly occurred in August, involved the players hitting a freshman with a belt and a vacuum cleaner tube.

LSU President William Tate said in a statement that the university "will not tolerate behavior that threatens the health and safety of our students."

Volleyball Match Postponed

The LSU Tigers football team's scheduled game against the Maryland Terrapins on Saturday has been postponed.

The University of Maryland said in a statement that it "supports LSU's decision to postpone the game and will cooperate with their investigation."

The Maryland Terrapins women's volleyball team is scheduled to play LSU on Sunday. It is unclear if that game will still be played.

Hazing a Serious Problem

Hazing is a serious problem on college campuses across the country.

According to the National Center for the Study of Hazing, there have been 109 hazing-related deaths since 1980.

Hazing can lead to physical and emotional trauma, and even death.

LSU Must Take Action

LSU must take swift and decisive action to address the hazing allegations.

The university should expel the students involved, and should also review its policies on hazing.

LSU must also provide support to the victims of the alleged hazing.
